You’ve Gotta Leave a Tip
Tags are decided completely by the author of the blog, it is an easy and unique way to categorize your blog posts. After you are finished writing a post you will decide what the overall keywords are in the post and then place them in the “Tags” box. If a reader enjoys that specific post they may click one of the tags and will be led to other posts with the same keyword. Utilizing this along with categories is a great way to organize your blog.
Tag, You’re It
There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong way to filling out your tags but you do want to make it as beneficial to your readers as possible. If they enjoy a post they’re reading and want to read similar posts it is best you have your posts well categorized with tags.
After you finish writing a post you will probably ask yourself what words in this post will make a good tag? Well it really depends on your preference and your prior history of tagging. It is best to use some old and and some new tags, and be relatively specific with your tags. That way when a reader clicks a tag they remain in the same general scope of the post they just read.
There is some room for creativity when tagging a post but also make sure you do the obvious tags. With business blogging if you are making a post about a specific product make sure you tag that specific product, so if a reader has a particular interest in that product they can easily read other posts about it. Even though tags are useful tools, make sure you don’t bombard the reader with excessive tagging, typically 5 to 10 tags is sufficient for posts of varying length.
