Tipping the Night Away

It is a headache for most, and probably will never be fully understood by many. However it is always worth trying to figure out because it is probably one of the most valuable tools on the internet: Search Engine Optimization aka SEO. Millions of dollars are spent every year by people who want their website to be of the highest ranking on search engine’s radars. Well it is likely you don’t have a million dollars to spend on SEO but there are a few things you can begin doing to your blog that will hopefully rank it up in well-known search engines. This week’s tip is going to discuss these techniques briefly.

How to Begin Optimizing

There are so many things you can do to optimize your blog for search engines. There are tools implemented inside of WordPress for this very purpose. We are going to lightly discuss a few of these ways and if you guys feel you want to hear a more in-depth version of any of the ways we can go into that in a later week’s tip.

The first thing I would like to discuss are inbound links. An inbound link is when another site links to your site for any particular reason. Search engines notice this and it will help rank your site higher. Inbound links are particularly beneficial when they come from a site ranked higher than yours, the links are relevant to your topic and relevant keywords are used when linking to your page.

You are probably wondering how to manage to get inbound links; well this is somewhat completely out of your control. However there are steps you can take to generate quality inbound links they are:

Inbound linking is somewhat out of your control, you cannot force other people to link to your site you can only take the right steps and hope that you begin getting linked to. The next couple techniques I’d like to talk about are more on your terms. Firstly keyword-rich content is a very valuable tool to getting noticed by search engines. Implement keywords in your posts, titles, URLs, it even helps to at least bold your keywords once in your post. However keep in mind you don’t want to sacrifice quality content to ensure you have a paragraph stuffed with keywords, try to balance it out the best you can.

A couple other things to try and do are making sure your posts are focused on one-topic specifically. Also interlinking on your blog is a great way to get noticed by search engines, and lastly make sure you update your site regularly. Updating your site regularly will ensure that the search engines are visiting your site frequently to index all of your posts.
