Here’s the Tip of an Iceberg

Front Page

There are millions of blogs out there and a good majority of those blogs are using the WordPress blogging platform. Chances are your blog’s topic is not new to the internet, so you have to think of a way you can make your blog stand out. The first thing to make changes to is your front page. It will be the first thing that every one of your visitors will see. This week’s blog tip is going to discuss how you can make your front page unique.

Making the Front Stand Out

You will more than likely be using a WordPress theme, so lets examine the different ways in which you can modify your front page inside an already laid out theme.

  • Image – It is important to have the appropriate, eye-catching image on the front page of your blog. More importantly try and make this image be unique to your blog, either entirely generated by you or significantly modified image which makes it unique to your blog. Also consider making the image sum up what your blog is about so there is no confusion on the reader’s end on what they are going to be reading.
  • Font – It may seem like a minute detail but changing up the font can mean the world of difference to a reader. Obviously there are only a select number of fonts out there but using the default font the theme gives you isn’t very exciting. Use something that is readable for your content and something that flows well for your titles, headers, etc.
  • Color – There will be so many areas on your blog which will be capable of color change. Why not use that to your advantage? You can change the color of your background, borders, and fonts. Spice up your blog and make it seem more unique to the reader.

There are several other things you can do to your front page to make it stand out from the rest. Probably one of the biggest adjustments you could make would be the layout of the page, however that requires the skill of a more advance user to adjust the layout significantly. Attempt to play around with it a little bit and post what you discover in the comments section of this post. There will be a future tip that will further discuss WordPress themes more in-depth. Thanks for reading this week’s blog tip, commenting is always encouraged.
